There are many lines that could adequately describe senior Anders Carlson.
But one that he repeats often perfectly paints the picture of the 17-year-old defender.
"You gotta have a fresh pair of J’s."
You see, Carlson loves Soccer Shoes.
No, not just any kind of shoes — Jordans.
Throw in a couple high-top Adidas Soccer Shoes that he also cherishes and you’ll find upwards of 13 pairs in his closet.
It’s all about the entire look Carlson puts forth — the oversized University of North Carolina basketball shorts, the extra large Jordan hoodie zipper sweatshirt, the Twins T-shirt underneath complete with a backwards hat — and that look screams sports.
That’s because sports are everything for him. No cliche here, simply honesty.
He’s played everything from soccer to tennis to basketball to backyard football to pond hockey, in addition to being a dedicated Twins and Wild fan. For Carlson, when not at school or studying he’s balling someway, somehow.
"Oh, and I play dodgeball on Tuesday nights," he says. "I just really love playing sports. I’ve played every sport known to man, except for cricket."
Carlson also plans to not deviate from tradition when it comes to college. He’s aiming to apply early decision to St. Olaf — as nearly every single Carlson in the family tree is an Ole.
"I’ve grown up around St. Olaf my entire life and I wanted to go there since the fourth grade," he said.
Possible degree options? What else other than sports-centric ones. Carlson is thinking sports medicine or exercise sciences.
"I think of our times and I smile and I laugh and I cry all at the same time," said Foudy, a former Stanford star.
Chastain's retirement gave them the perfect moment to reminisce and rejoice. The perfect place to fete one of the South Bay's most influential sports figures.
It also was a chance for old friends to party into the night.
